3rd and 4th Heritage Trip
During the school year, 3rd and 4th class took part in the Heritage Keepers programme. We engaged in online seminars, interacting with other classes around the country, where we explored evidence of history in our locality and biodiversity in Ballymahon.
To conclude this project, we set off on a heritage trip last Thursday. Our first stop was Knights and Conquest in Granard. The children enjoyed the experience of the Norman museum. The Normans built Motte and Bailey castles and we climbed the highest Motte in Ireland, Granard Motte!
The second part of our trip was a visit to Leebeen Park in Aughnacliffe. We went on a trail with our maps where we saw swans and ducklings and slurry being spread. We finished off our trip in the park’s playground. A great day was had by all!
