I want to welcome you all to our very first school website. This new addition to our school has been worked on for a very long time now and we are all very proud of the way it has developed. I thank both the staff and the pupils who were involved in the development of  our school website.  St. Matthew's NS began on the first of September 2000. This was a major change from the previous two schools that were amalgamated that year and the beginning of a whole new era in education in Ballymahon. We are a co-educational, Roman Catholic primary school, under the patronage of the Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnois. We have a strong, dynamic and interactive relationship with our local community. From the very first day, the community of Ballymahon here in south Longford has given nothing but the greatest of support to both the school and the staff. We pride ourselves in the excellent achievements of our pupils and celebrate their individualism and the part each one plays in our school life. The pupils are a constant source of joy. Each and every one of them displays talent, diligence, politeness and intelligence. Our children deserve every advantage in life that we as a school community can afford them in our fine school and community. Our school is run by a hard-working and supportive Board of Management and has an active Parent’s Association whose involvement is encouraged and appreciated. I hope you enjoy this website and use it to follow the many developments and achievements yet to come.
